Removing pieces of polystyrene plastic at the river cleanup

On Saturday, June 5th, we gathered our employees, families and friends to participate in the Great LA River Cleanup organized by FoLAR, Friends of the LA River. Every year, FoLAR hosts the Great LA River Cleanup, one of the most significant environmental stewardship events, to bring thousands of Angelenos down to the river to remove tons of trash. Following COVID safety protocols, we gathered a group of 40 people at the Sepulveda Basin location, and worked together to remove any kind of trash from the riverbed and paths. This year, large and small pieces of polystyrene plastic were the most common trash we collected.

This cleanup was again a very meaningful event. Everyone who participated not only had fun together, but also got a good understanding of how to recycle properly and how important it is to keep trash out of nature. At the BOTTLEBOX®, we are committed to keeping plastic bottles and containers out of landfills and oceans, repurposing them into sustainable take-out containers.
