Driscoll’s received Innovator Award for responsible sourcing of Direct Pack clamshells

Using recycled PET beverage bottles to create the famous BOTTLEBOX® containers, we have made a big impact in reducing new materials and saving bottles from landfills and oceans. Recently, together with Driscoll’s, our long-term customer-partner, we have successfully included 10% recycled PET thermoform content in their berry clamshells, making us the first to promote full circularity in packaging solutions for the berry industry. Prior to this innovation, Driscoll’s berry clamshells only contained over 50% post-consumer recycled PET beverage bottles without sourcing in post-consumer recycled PET thermoform. The new innovative berry clamshell is estimated to save 7.9 million pounds of PET thermoform from ending up in landfills and oceans this year. With such an achievement, Driscoll’s has received the Sustainable Packaging Coalition’s 2021 Innovator Awards for adding post-consumer recycled PET thermoform in their berry clamshells.
