Direct Pack and BOTTLEBOX® gathered employees, partners and family members to participate in the LA River 2018 Cleanup in Sepulveda Basin on Saturday, April 14. This great event was organized by Friends of the LA River, and with our 114 volunteers, Direct Pack was the single largest group of participants they have ever had. For 29 years, FoLAR have organized cleanups of the Los Angeles River and protected our waterways and oceans from trash and refuse. In 2017 they mobilized 10,000 volunteers and removed 100 tons of trash, estimating that the numbers will increase further this year.
At Direct Pack we are very committed to working for a more sustainable environment, and recycling is at heart of what we do. We are excited to combine our effort to recover plastic bottles for use in our BOTTLEBOX® line of take-out containers with FoLAR’s effort to reduce ocean bound litter and create a healthy environment around the river. The cleanup was very well organized and not only for a good cause – everyone felt part of the team, had a good time, got a good understanding of how important it is to keep trash out of nature, as well as a work-out! There will be two more cleanup days in April, at seven different locations.
